Sitemark Goes the Distance: Team Raises £5,601 for St Richard’s Hospice

The Sitemark team has successfully completed the Paddle, Plod & Pedal challenge, raising an impressive £5,601 for St Richard’s Hospice. Covering 39 miles across the Worcestershire countryside, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience, teamwork, and community spirit throughout the event.

A Challenge That Showcased True Teamwork

On Saturday 27 September 2025, colleagues from Sitemark, the UK’s leading independent FM benchmarking specialists for the facilities management sector, embarked on the multi-discipline challenge from Pershore.

The route included:

  • A 7-mile paddle along the River Avon
  • A 9-mile walk to Severn Stoke
  • A 23-mile cycle back to Pershore

For a team known for supporting organisations in improving FM service quality, operational performance, and workplace efficiency, this challenge provided a very different test. However, the same strengths that drive their professional success, collaboration, determination, and problem-solving, played a central role in helping them cross the finish line.

Thanks to generous donations from colleagues, clients, friends, families, and local supporters, the team surpassed their original target and achieved a final fundraising total of £5,601 including Gift Aid.

Supporting a Charity Close to the Community

For Managing Director Mike Boxall, the challenge represented far more than a physical test.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have raised £5,601 for St Richard’s Hospice.
The challenge certainly pushed us, but it’s nothing compared to what the patients and families supported by St Richard’s face every day. The hospice delivers truly exceptional care, and we’re proud to support the team who make that possible.”

St Richard’s Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses. The charity relies heavily on community fundraising, making contributions like Sitemark’s vital to its ongoing work.

Living Sitemark’s Values

The event brought Sitemark’s commitment to team wellbeing, collaborative culture, and continuous improvement to life, values that are also essential within high-performing facilities management environments.

Colleagues from across the business came together to train, prepare, and motivate one another, demonstrating the same unity and shared purpose they apply to helping FM teams across the UK enhance their service delivery and operational standards.

A Collective Effort Supported by the Community

Throughout the lead-up to the challenge, the team received overwhelming support from clients, suppliers, friends, family members, and local businesses. Donations continued to flow in even after the event, helping the team reach their final total of £5,601.

A spokesperson for St Richard’s Hospice expressed their appreciation:

“Every pound raised helps us provide more care, more comfort, and more moments of peace for our patients and their families. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Sitemark for their dedication and for taking on such a demanding challenge in support of our work.”

More Than Just a Physical Test

Beyond the miles on the water, footpaths, and cycle routes, the challenge strengthened relationships across the business. Team members overcame tough moments, shared plenty of laughs, and built lasting memories, all while supporting a cause that matters deeply to the local community.

One participant summed up the experience:

“It was a great reminder of what we can achieve together. There were laughs, blisters, and a lot of mud, but knowing it was helping the hospice made every mile worthwhile.”

Looking Ahead

The success of Paddle, Plod & Pedal has already sparked conversations about what the Sitemark team might tackle next. Whether it’s another endurance challenge or a different style of fundraiser, one thing is certain: Sitemark’s commitment to community impact, collaboration, and making a positive difference will continue to drive future initiatives.
