Sitemark passes its first surveillance audit for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
Sitemark recently achieved its first surveillance audit for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 with no major or minor non-conformities noted. This marks a significant milestone for Sitemark and shows our commitment to maintaining the highest quality management standards and environmental responsibility.
The Sitemark team are particularly proud of this achievement as we’re one of only a handful of organisations in the Facilities Management Consultancy sector to hold the global standards. There’s no legal requirement to hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, but for Sitemark it’s non-negotiable. This successful audit highlights the collective effort of our team to continuously improve and innovate and reflect Sitemark’s ongoing dedication to delivering exceptional services.
‘One of Sitemark’s core values is to challenge the status quo and this drives the team every day. We have a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and driving transformation which has been reflected in passing our first surveillance audit with flying colours. It shows that we’re doing the right things in the right way – both internally and for our clients’
– Mike Boxall, Managing Director
Why are ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 important?
The ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications assess quality management, and the environmental impact of an organisation. By holding these standards, Sitemark shows that it meets internationally recognised standards for its internal management systems and management of environmental issues.
ISO 9001 sets the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS) which provides a consistent approach to meeting objectives and providing quality for clients. In the UK, the ISO 9001 certification is completed by a UKAS-accredited certification body who assess each organisation for the standards.
ISO 14001 is a separate international standard that looks at environmental management systems (EMS) and how organisations reduce their environmental impact. It’s the most widely used EMS in the world and provides a clear approach to measuring and reducing the environmental impact of an organisation.
What has Sitemark put in place to ensure certification?
Sitemark is always looking for ways to innovate and improve and this had led to the successful achievement of the two ISO standards.
For ISO 9001, we’ve established a comprehensive Quality Management Sytstem (QMS) that focuses on customers, leadership involvement, risk-based thinking, and continuous improvement. This includes clearly defined processes, regular internal audits, and training programs to makesure our staff understand the quality standards. Sitemark has also adopted performance monitoring tools to track service delivery, identify areas for improvement, and ensure consistent adherence to customer requirements and regulatory obligations.
For ISO 14001, Sitemark has developed an Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) to reduce our environmental footprint. This includes implementing practices to minimise waste, improve energy efficiency, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Sitemark conducts regular environmental impact assessments and sets measurable goals for sustainability, such as reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly materials.
These combined efforts ensure that Sitemark maintains compliance with both standards and remains committed to quality and sustainability.
How Sitemark can help clients with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification
By meeting the ISO global standards, Sitemark are not only ensuring our own quality and environmental considerations, we can also help clients improve their own systems. The Sitemark team can share our understanding of the certificaiton process to help clients develop their own robust managements systems that meet the ISO standards.
Gaining certification comes with many benefits for both an organisation and end-users. For example, increased credibility, improved cost control, a better success rate when implementing change and, of course, a competitive advantage of others in the same industry. The overall result is improved internal processes, a consistently high quality of service, and increased trust with clients and stakeholders.
