Sitemark identified cost reduction opportunities
The challenge
The Trust was looking for an alternative and pioneering approach to measuring achievements and for improved methods of removing various recycling and waste streams from both hospital sites. Additionally it needed to review the externally contracted resource.
The solution
Sitemark’s proven independent recycling and waste benchmarking review and evaluation of strategic external staffing ticked the Trust’s
‘boxes’, so as to enable measurement of current solutions, offer new options, and suggest direction for future policy decisions.
The results
Sitemark provides independent best practice benchmarking of facilities management services, helping clients improve standards, reduce costs and ensure best value for money.
Sitemark established that the sites have a good recycling rate across its commercial domestic material for an NHS facility, and that there are opportunities for further improvement.
Sitemark identified a number of recommendations for the Trust to consider and adopt which will drive change and improvement going forward.
The process identified cost reduction opportunities relating to clinical streams.
Benchmarking of all waste streams demonstrated that historical removal costs had been well controlled for most.
Supporting consultation is helping the team at Guy's and St Thomas' implement the new solutions and advice provided by Sitemark to progress future recycling and waste processes.
